Cardiovascular Technology
In this video, Jennifer Dunifon, a registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist and Clinical Coordinator at Polk State College, discusses the important role of a cardiovascular technologist in a cardiac catheterization lab, commonly known as the Cath lab. These professionals assist cardiologists during procedures, record critical information, and help diagnose and treat heart conditions. They work with imaging techniques and interventional procedures, such as balloon angioplasty and stent placement, using fluoroscopy to visualize the coronary arteries with contrast agents injected through catheters. This approach allows for detailed examination and treatment of heart issues without needing large incisions.
